No More Spring Break

I am sad to say our Spring break is over. P spent the week with my parents and E spent 2 nights. Just long enough for me to get a nice quiet break.

The kids had a great time at the Zoo last week. It was a nice, sunny and warm day. Much warmer than the weather forecast said. It was perfect outside weather. We skipped the new parakeet exhibit because the line was really long. And skipped the Panda exhibit. It had long lines too. I kind of expected it since the new baby panda was just released outdoors the week before. People love them some baby panda. While we were there we got an impromptu lesson on the mating habits of lions and otters. Let me tell you those otters are quiet inventive. Spring has definitely hit the zoo.

I even made it to IKEA as planned. I love that store. If the kids hadn't been there I would have spent hours browsing. Too bad it is so far away. P has even been asking to go back. Only God knows why. He spent the whole time getting in trouble for grabbing stuff off the shelves, running ahead to see out the windows and jumping on furniture. If anyone ever, ever, EVER tells him their is a play area in that store, I will strangle them.

My cabinets are basically done. I have 4 cabinet doors waiting on one edge to get painted so I can hang them back up and a few places that need touch up, but 95% is done. The kitchen looks so much better. I just need to find some old handles. The hinges are an old tarnished looking coppery color. The drawer pulls don't match and to find some that will, my best bet will to be find some old ones at a thrift store. Oh and I need some of those little felt circles to put on the inside of the doors because they are sticking a little bit when I close the doors. I might luck out and find some wooden chairs too. (I swear my old ones were made out of Elmers glue and toothpicks)

Next on my to do list is the floors. We have really old vinyl floors that look dirty....always. Everything gets trapped in the little nooks and crannies and doesn't come out with mopping. I have to get on my hands and knees with a scrub brush to get the dirt out and I hate it. I hate it so much I hardly ever go to the trouble. I bought a mop with a scrub brush on it and this weekend plan to pick up some floor sealant and wax. I picked up the tip in the latest Woman's Day magazine and it is suppose to help make the floors easier to clean. Hopefully it will work.

I'm Not Home Right Now

Today I am taking the kids on a trip to Zoo Atlanta with friends. This will be E's first trip to the Zoo. P could care less since he has been before. If things go as planned, by the time you are reading this I will be watching an elephant get a bath or a monkey throw some feces.

And afterwards, for me if there is time.....IKEA.

OUCH!

YAY! The kids are staying one more night with my parents. That gives me time to finish up the cabinets. I plan to get back to work soon. I have to wait until JB gets up from his nap to help me take down the cabinets. If he can manage to at least keep them from falling to the floor.

He had a rough day at the dentist. It took 2 1/2hours just to get a tooth pulled. Even the receptionist was wondering what was going on. The dentist would only give JB a tiny bit of the numbing medication at a time trying to get by with using as little as possible. When he found out the small dosage wasn't working, he gave him a little bit more. Over and over. JB said he lost count after the 7th shot. Then the dentist kept working at the tooth and refused to give in and cut it out. By that point JB said he was crying it was so bad. And wouldn't you know it, he gives me fuel like that and I would feel like a heel for using it. I could have lived off that bit of info for weeks. But I will hold it all in just because I can tell by looking at him that it was no picnic. He looks like he got hit in the face with a bat. His face is swollen and all around his mouth is red and looks like there may be some bruising underneath. So he is staying home from work tonight to sleep off the pain meds.

I was looking forward to another night alone, but I guess that will have to wait. How many pain pills is ok to slip in his food to keep him quiet all night I wonder?

Ahhhh....

It is so nice at my house right now. The kids are gone to my parents to spend the night (maybe 2 nights) and JB is gone to work. It is so quiet. I love my family, but I also love it when they are elsewhere. I need quiet time sometimes.

It is also nice to be able to work on something without interruption or having to stop to get kids out of everything or clean up the messes they make when I turn my back on them. I started painting my kitchen cabinets today. It is going faster than I thought it would. I may even finish them all tonight. And it is taking a lot less paint than I thought it would, so I will have enough left over to paint the cabinets in both bathrooms too. I have always hated the cabinets and it feels really good to finally be making them look somewhat better. I can't wait until it is done.

Right now I have ran out of painting space and am having to take a break until some cabinet doors dry enough to be moved. So I am going to download some Wii games and play for awhile.

After that who knows. Maybe a nap, maybe a bath. Heck I might even go shave my legs.

I'm Ready

Today E decided that it was time to go outside so she dressed herself. A complete outfit. Her dress is inside out. She only put her arm through one of the two straps on one side and forgot a sock. At least the shoes are on the right feet.

Hello Wall

Today I feel so...blah. Today I woke up, got out of bed and ran into the wall. My leg had gone numb and I was dizzy so it was a little bit difficult to walk and nothing registered until I was up and away from the bed. (I am a little bit slow when I wake up) Some thunderstorms rolled through at about 4 this morning and during them my ears popped and started ringing. Ever since then I have felt pressure and been somewhat dizzy. The leg thing is just something that happens to me a few times a month. Needless to say I skipped work today and will have to make up for it tomorrow. Thankfully I make my own schedule so staying home wasn't that big a deal. But I am not looking forward to tomorrow.

I am looking forward to tomorrow being the last day I have to get up at 6:30 in the morning. YAY spring break!! Not that we are going anywhere or doing anything, but a whole week of not setting the alarm clock will be a vacation in itself.

For the rest of the day I am going to clean nothing, do nothing, and keep dust from settling on the couch. I should have this ear problem more often.

Why Me Wednesday

Lately I have had to deal with some messes. BIG ones.
First E colored herself with a marker...again.

Then she decided to cook.

She reveled in it.

Then told me if I didn't like it I could go away.

She dumped the salt into the living room floor and was working on the pepper.

Last night she dumped a gallon sized canister FULL of rice in the living room. It was EVERYWHERE, the couch, shoes, toys, under the couch, on top of the tv and in her diaper. (I did not take pictures of that mess.)

The kids now have a canister of rice to play with. (Might as well recycle it into something)
