Real Holiday Helpings

This time of year I get so busy I am lucky if I get to take a shower everyday. There is so much to do. I have to plan my gift list and holiday menus. Since I live so far from the stores and one store never has everything I need, I end up having to make several trips. Work gets busier, the kids go haywire, the messes get bigger, my stress level rises. And to top it off P's birthday is the 23rd. So throw in birthday party planning, shopping, cooking. It's exhausting. I need all the help I can get. And I know I am not alone. I'm not am I?

Despite all that, for some reason my biggest planning issue are leftovers. I never know what to do with them. Every year we end up having the exact same meal for 3 days. Or we might switch it up with a boring turkey sandwich, or JB eats a boring bbq turkey sandwhich. Its just blah.

This year I am getting some help from Bobby Flay.

Doesn't he look like he is having a blast in my kitchen? Yes I'm lying, he isn't at my house. He refused to come. Instead he was too busy teaming up with Hellmann's to create the site Real Holiday Helpings. Despite my dissapointment the site is going to help me a lot. Not as much as say, Bobby flay in my kitchen, but a lot. There are so many recipes that sound so good that my new problem may be choosing between them. Recipes like Creamy Cheddar Turkey BLT Wraps. They look so good I want to go ahead and cook the turkey now. I actually may have done that if I had the turkey. I guess it is a good thing that my freezer is so stinking small that I can't buy the turkey unless it can go straight in to the refrigerator to thaw. I have even already picked my side dish to take to Christmas dinner. I am normally still trying decide a week from now.

Leftovers aren't the only recipes on the site. You can find recipes for the main dish or for sides and even dessert. There are some videos that show you how to make some of the dishes. I even learned a great tip that I have never thought of before. I like cheese but I am weird about it. If I am going to be eating slices from a block of cheese I like them to be super super thin. Bobby Flay shows us to use a potato peeler in on of the videos. Who knew? I am going to go try this tip out today.

While you are visiting the site and getting some great recipes be sure to enter to win free groceries for a year.

And I have a $25 American Express gift card to give away to one of my readers. To enter visit the site and tell me which recipe is your favorite. Be sure I have a way to contact you through your comment. For extra entries follow my blog, follow me on twitter, or digg this post. Be sure to leave a separate comment for each. This contest ends on Wednesday Dec 16th.

***This post was written as part of a blog campaign for Mom Select. I was given a $25American Express gift card in exchange for my time.
