I am sad to say our Spring break is over. P spent the week with my parents and E spent 2 nights. Just long enough for me to get a nice quiet break.
The kids had a great time at the Zoo last week. It was a nice, sunny and warm day. Much warmer than the weather forecast said. It was perfect outside weather. We skipped the new parakeet exhibit because the line was really long. And skipped the Panda exhibit. It had long lines too. I kind of expected it since the new baby panda was just released outdoors the week before. People love them some baby panda. While we were there we got an impromptu lesson on the mating habits of lions and otters. Let me tell you those otters are quiet inventive. Spring has definitely hit the zoo.
I even made it to IKEA as planned. I love that store. If the kids hadn't been there I would have spent hours browsing. Too bad it is so far away. P has even been asking to go back. Only God knows why. He spent the whole time getting in trouble for grabbing stuff off the shelves, running ahead to see out the windows and jumping on furniture. If anyone ever, ever, EVER tells him their is a play area in that store, I will strangle them.
My cabinets are basically done. I have 4 cabinet doors waiting on one edge to get painted so I can hang them back up and a few places that need touch up, but 95% is done. The kitchen looks so much better. I just need to find some old handles. The hinges are an old tarnished looking coppery color. The drawer pulls don't match and to find some that will, my best bet will to be find some old ones at a thrift store. Oh and I need some of those little felt circles to put on the inside of the doors because they are sticking a little bit when I close the doors. I might luck out and find some wooden chairs too. (I swear my old ones were made out of Elmers glue and toothpicks)
Next on my to do list is the floors. We have really old vinyl floors that look dirty....always. Everything gets trapped in the little nooks and crannies and doesn't come out with mopping. I have to get on my hands and knees with a scrub brush to get the dirt out and I hate it. I hate it so much I hardly ever go to the trouble. I bought a mop with a scrub brush on it and this weekend plan to pick up some floor sealant and wax. I picked up the tip in the latest Woman's Day magazine and it is suppose to help make the floors easier to clean. Hopefully it will work.

hey that is a great idea with the wax. It makes sense although I would have never thought of it myself.
